Don't Try This at Home

I recently heard about a beauty trick that is secretly done in bathrooms across the nation. This is the practice of heating up your eyelash curler with a cigarette lighter (or, for the slightly more sane, a hair dryer), in an effort to get a tighter, longer-lasting curl. Talk about a new way to get a smoky eye.
A much safer, and more effective solution is to purchase one of the heated eyelash curlers on the market. Plus, they provide gentle, even heat to coax your lashes skyward, and keep them that way. Now, one of my beauty blessings is naturally curly lashes, so I haven't tested these options out. If you have tried them, please post a comment and let us know how it worked for you!

Crimp-style curlers sandwich lashes between two pads to create a curl and are either heated with batteries in the handle or sit in a heated base:

Talika Heated Eyelash Curler - $35. Raved about by Bliss and features a sleek design. Word in the Alley (makeupalley.com, that is) is that the body is made of cheap plastic and it isn't easy to use.

Hotlashes - $50. If you like using a more traditional curler but want to heat it up, this provides a heated base for a manual-style curler. It's a big investment, but some say it's worth it.

Wand style lash curlers allow you to hold the heat against the lash, reducing the risk of pulling your lashes out.

  • EyeCurl - £14.95. Seemingly only available in the U.K., this heated eyelash curler gets rave reviews from Kate Moss and other celebs. Plus, rave reviews from fellow beauty junkies.

  • Blinc - $24. Mixed reviews on drugstore.com. Star feature: blinc Lash Curler’s heated comb has a special built-in guard that prevents contact with your skin and eyes.

  • Japonesque Heated Mini Eyelash Curler - $16. The small size and fact you can use it over mascara make this one a good choice.

So, are you heating up your lashes so you can look smokin hot? Let us know which of these options has worked for you. Just please leave the flames in the bathroom for a candlelit bath.

Hey Beauty Hatchery,
You've been tagged! I'm tagging you over at Makeup Junkie in Canada and you're next. :)
If you haven't played before, here are the rules:
Each player starts with 7 random facts/habits about him or herself. People who are tagged need to then report this fact on their blog along with their 7 things, as well as these rules. They then tag 7 others and list their names on their blog. They're also asked to leave a comment for each of the tagged, letting them know they have been tagged and to read the blog.
happy tagging!

Heating up your eye curler with a lighter? That sounds DANGEROUS, lol. I like the fact though that you listed other options that are a lot safer. :]

I just started working with a company called Brickfish and they’re actually running a contest with MAX Factor (pretty sweet for a job!). The contest is to write a story using the names of 10 MAX Factor's MAXalicious Naughty/Nice lip glosses. The winner will receive all 10 shades of the MAXalicious lip gloss that were named in their story!

My favorite entry was about a girl’s night out in Vegas :-) I thought you might be interested in sharing this info with the rest of group since it's free make-up which I LOVE! Do you have any ideas on how I can get the word out ? I manage the swag closet here so I’d love to send you a t-shirt and other stuff if you can help. Let me know. Happy to send.

Take a look and let me know if you’re interested: http://www.brickfish.com/fashion/MAXaliciousMonologue

Thanks,
Stephanie

I have the Talika heated eyelash curler, and it's really a piece of junk! So I highly recommend NOT trying that one!

The body is made out of CHEAP plastic and it is hard to use! It never leaves my lashes curled. I have to do it multiple times to barely get a curl! AND, it snapped once...as in snapped out of place and I had to push it back together...after that I no longer use it.

I don't know about that one lol..doesn't sound safe at all..
They must've been in a hurry in the morning since they didnt have time to do makeup at home or cant afford a blow dryer? who knows..but I tried warming it up with blow dryer and that works. Just make sure you don't over heat it...just blow dry the eyelash curler from a distance for a few seconds and then use it. Apply a mascara...it works really good if u have those double sided ones with a white coat and the regular mascar..gives u more volume and lenght
anyways if u need more tips you can visit my site

Its still work in progress but more stuff coming soon I promise

I have tried the Hot Lashes heated eyelash curler at a Makeup artist studio where I had my makeup done.
Worked really great.. just enough heat to heat just the black pad in the curler and the curl lasted till the next day. Super easy.

Blessed girls you are with naturally curly lashes, mine are stick straight and when curled my eyes look hugh.

Love my hot lashes, will not part with it.

It appears Aqib Talib pulled a Plaxico Burress.

When news first broke that the Denver Broncos cornerback Nike Air Max 90 had been shot, the details were awfully strange, as Talib told Dallas police, “Everything was a blur Nike Free Run and I was too intoxicated to nfl jerseys store remember what happened,” wholesale nfl jerseys the location of the shooting NFL Jerseys – either a nightclub or a neighborhood Nike Air Max 2015 Shoes park (or a grassy knoll, perhaps?) – was called into question, and a police Nike Roshe Run report claimed the bullet entered his right thigh and exited his right calf, cheap nfl jerseys which suggested it traveled straight down his leg.
