Through the Looking Glass

Think of the characters in your childhood stories. Who did you relate to the most? Or want to be like? Sure, there were moments where you'd have said Jem and the Holograms or She-Ra Princess of Power. But when pressed to think of someone more timeless, Alice in Wonderland always seems to come to the top of the list.

Alice is curious and brave, defiant but polite, and meets characters and has adventures far more amazing than most other childhood heroines. Old enough now to grasp the edgy side of Alice (the drug allusions, twisted logic and double entendres), I like her even more. She's sweet and pure, sure... but is also fearless and handles the surreal world in stride.

Makeup brand Goldie is uniquely edgy/sweet, with gorgeous shades and packaging decorated with an urban sort of scribble. Now Goldie is now celebrating both sides of Alice in a collection of cosmetics that are decorated with early Disney sketches of Alice and her friends "down the rabbit hole".
Check out the two beautiful face palettes, for example. Both include two shades for your eyes, lips and cheeks. The "Alice Silhouette" version shown here features pinky shades and the "A Monogram" version has warmer pink tones. The cases have sketches of Alice that spark the imagination, without being saccharine sweet.

The lip glosses and tinted lip balms are gorgeous, both in the variety of shades and the packaging. The caps are high-quality metal with a lacquered "A" monogram. The Cheshire Cat's smile on the balm makes me smile when I pull it out of my bag.

The collection is available at Bath & Body Works. Use them to get ready, for adventure is just around the corner.

Is this line of make-up for women or little girls? Is this line of make-up that want to be or be treated like little girls?

The formulas are certainly woman-worthy; they're not your typical drugstore kiddy stuff. In my opinion, the Alice designs are whimsical but have an edge that make them more grown-up. In any case, makeup isn't that serious!

I love the Goldie lip glosses and balms - the heavy jars the balms come in are especially nice. I am going to try more items in this line.
